Floor Coverings
Our underfloor heating cable is compatible with most floor finishes. Here’s how to install it with each one:
- Tile/Stone: Fully encapsulate the cable with either a flexible smoothing compound or flexible tile adhesive before you lay the tile or floor finish. We recommend you use a plastic trowel to protect the cable from accidental damage.
 - Carpet: Fully encapsulate the cable with a flexible smoothing compound to provide at least 10mm of coverage above the top of the cable before you lay the carpet. Avoid rubber or foam-backed carpets and check with the carpet manufacturer to ensure the carpet is suitable for underfloor heating.
 - Timber: Fully encapsulate the cable with 6-7mm of flexible smoothing compound before you lay the timber floor finish. When you install natural wood floors, we recommend that softwood floors don’t exceed 20mm in thickness and hardwood floors don’t exceed 30mm.
 - Vinyl: Fully encapsulate the cable with a 10mm bed of flexible smoothing compound to provide at least 5mm of coverage above the top of the heating element before you lay the vinyl floor finish.

Note: Floor coverings should not exceed a thermal resistance of 0.15m²K/W.
We provide free technical support from the start of your project to the finish. We will assist you with any queries you have to ensure you feel confident.
Please adhere to all safety guidelines during and after installation. We advise you to choose an underfloor heating mat that covers 90% of your floor area. You cannot cut the cables, so it’s best to order slightly less than you need.
